What personal information do we collect on Carlson.com, how, and why?
There are four places on Carlson.com where we collect personal information:

Within the "Career" section of our website, we request that you create an account on Carlson.com by submitting your first and last name, e-mail address, a password, and an answer to a secret question in order to facilitate an online application to one of our job openings.

A second place where we ask for your information is on the "Online Application" page of the Career section. In order to process your online application, we ask for you contact information, job-related information, resume, and equal-opportunity employment information, but only require the minimum pieces of information we need in order to process your application.

We also provide a link to the website for The Curtis L. Carlson Family Foundation where grant applicants are asked to e-mail or fax a form that contains the name, phone, and e-mail for the Executive Director of their organization.

Under the "Contact Us" section of our website, Carlson suppliers will find a link to our supplier-management website. Companies that wish to register are asked to provide the name and e-mail address of their principal owner and the name and phone numbers of references, in addition to other non-personally identifiable information about their business.

We use PeopleClick to help us support the Career section of our website, who may place cookies cookies on your computer when you search for and apply for a job. The cookies help process your application and associate you to the open positions you've applied for. We encrypt the cookies during this process, and they expire as soon as you leave the website. One level of sharing occurs when we contract with trusted suppliers to help provide our website services. We use PeopleClick to host our online-application service. Our websites do not use technologies called "spyware" that secretly collect and transmit information about you outside the domain of the website.

Be aware, however, that whenever you click on any advertisements on the Internet, the companies placing the ads may collect information about you through the use of cookies or pop-up advertisements. For example, our data networks are protected by firewalls and intrusion-detection sensors. Although we use reasonable measures to help protect your personal information and comply with applicable data security laws, it's important that you understand that no website or database is completely secure, or "hacker proof." You can protect yourself and help us prevent computer crime by carefully guarding your password.

How do we enforce our privacy promises?
We communicate our privacy promises to our employees and train employees handling member information on their roles and responsibilities in protecting your privacy. How do we make notification of changes to our privacy policy?
If we make only minor changes to this Policy, we'll replace this Policy with the new Policy and change the "effective" date at the top of this Policy. We will also provide a notice at the top of this Policy for at least 30 days after the new effective date and highlight the changes in the Policy so that you can locate them easily. If you have submitted your e-mail addresses to Carlson through Carlson.com, we will notify you by the e-mail address you submitted to us if a major, material change of this privacy policy will affect how we use the personal information you've submitted.
